FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Colorado State University study says corn mazes, farmers markets and other agritourism attractions contributed $2.2 billion to the state economy last year.

The study, released Thursday, says agritourism accounted for 14 percent of the state’s tourism economy in 2006.

About 56 percent of the agritourism visitors came from out of state, and they accounted for about $1.7 billion of the income.

The study says agritourism created nearly 15,000 jobs in Colorado.

Top choices for Colorado agritourism activities included on-farm experiences such as camping and picnicking, photography and art, bird and wildlife watching.
