Stiltwalkers and other performers canvassed the 16th Street Mall on Thursday to launch the Downtown Denver Partnership’s new “Elevate Your Urban” marketing campaign.
The campaign packages downtown living in much the same way new urban town centers market themselves.
“Branding an entire urban area poses its challenges,” said Tami Door, president and chief executive of the Downtown Denver Partnership. “But we do have one major advantage over other so-called urban centers: authenticity. You can’t fake it or franchise it.”
The goal is to inspire locals through itinerary items on banners along the mall. Each banner displays a themed itinerary.
A “night out” theme, for example, could be 5 p.m., free salsa dance lessons; 7 p.m., oysters on the half shell; and 9 p.m., cabaret theater and nightcap.
