SPLENDORA, TEXAS — A former Nuggets forward wanted on drug and weapons charges in Illinois was arrested Thursday when U.S. marshals stopped him aboard a commercial bus heading out of Houston.

Keon Clark, who played for the Nuggets from 1998-2001, was scheduled for trial in August 2006 in Vermilion County in Illinois for possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of firearm possession.

He also is facing charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and DUI.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders & Fugitive Task Force got a tip Clark, 32, was in the Houston area. The next day, they learned Clark was on a bus going from Houston to Longview, Texas, said Deputy U.S. Marshal Marianne Matus.

After marshals stopped the bus in Splendora, about 34 miles northeast of Houston, Clark was arrested without incident, said Matus. Clark was being held in the San Jacinto County Jail on Thursday.
