Chilly winds out of the northwest are sweeping through the metro area this morning, and should be followed by dry weather warming into the 70s on Friday and Saturday.
The winds will blow between 20 and 40 mph today, with some gusts as high as 50 mph. The eastern plains will be particularly vulnerable, with authorities warning RV owners and truckers with empty trailers to use caution.
Temperatures in the metro area should climb only into the 50s today. Lows tonight will drop into the 30s.
Friday and Saturday should be superb, warm and colorful days with temperatures in the 70s. Another storm system is expected to move into the area on Sunday.
The system that is causing the winds dropped more snow in the mountains, with 2 to 6 inches reported this morning in the northern and central mountains. Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Basin already are open for skiing with a limited number of runs.
