BOULDER, Colo.—A body found near the Peak to Peak Highway has been identified as that of 32-year-old Tennyson McCarty of Boulder.

Boulder County sheriff’s officials say McCarty’s body was found Friday in a creek off a highway turnout northwest of Boulder near Peaceful Valley.

The cause and manner of death have not been determined, pending further investigation and results of laboratory tests. Boulder County Coroner Tom Faure says no foul play is suspected.

McCarty was a tight end for the University of Colorado football team from 1994 to 1997. His brother, Eric McCarty, is Colorado’s director of sports medicine. He attended the Buffaloes’ 19-14 loss to Kansas on Saturday.

“He was incredibly giving, one of the most unselfish people I know,” McCarty said in a news release. “He probably gave so much that he didn’t have anything left for himself.”

According to McCarty, his brother was reported missing Tuesday and a missing persons report was filed Wednesday.

Tennyson McCarty was a four-time letter winner for the Buffaloes. He caught 37 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown in 42 career games.
