DENVER—A wintry storm has begun dropping snow along the Front Range urban corridor, with four and a half inches reported in Arapahoe County in the Denver area.
The snow is heavier snow in the mountains to the west, with six inches in Grand County and six and a half inches in Breckenridge.
Most of the northern and central Colorado mountains are under a winter storm watch. Up to 14 inches of snow is expected in places.
Chain laws are in effect on parts of I-70 in the mountains and on several mountain passes in southwest and northwest Colorado.
Independence Pass between Aspen and Leadville is closed.
Rain and snow are expected to move across northeast Colorado later in the day.
