A young man was killed early Saturday when he lost control of his car on Colorado 83 in Douglas County, the Colorado State Patrol reported today.
The 17-year-old from Franktown was driving a 1996 Nissan Maxima about 2:25 a.m. Saturday. As he traveled south on 83 approaching Colorado 86, he went off the road and hit a traffic pole. The Maxima landed on its top.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Douglas County Coroner. His name has not been released.
The state patrol is investigating the crash and said alcohol or drugs appear to be contributing factors.
