Delay in wild-horse roundup irks Wyo. governor
CHEYENNE — Budget constraints and the demands of taking care of sick, wild horses in Nevada will delay a planned roundup of wild horses next month in southwestern Wyoming, according to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
In a letter last week to Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal, BLM state director Robert A. Bennett said his agency will have to postpone until July the removal of hundreds of wild horses from the White Mountain and Little Colorado herd management areas near Rock Springs.
Freudenthal wrote back to Bennett on Monday, saying the BLM’s decision was unacceptable and indicating the state was considering legal options.
