The date for a hunters party presented by the North Metro and Northwest Metro chapters of Ducks Unlimited to benefit waterfowl resource management was listed incorrectly in the Sunday Denver Post. The correct date for the 6 p.m. event at the American Legion Hall, 9959 Wadsworth Blvd., is Thursday. A $25 fee includes dinner and a DU membership.

Smallmouth record. A Colorado angler, David Mohler of Arvada, has entered the National Fishing Hall of Fame record book for his 24-inch smallmouth bass taken Sept. 22 in Bass Lake, Ontario. Mohler’s fish is an all-tackle record for the catch-and-release division.

Elk info sought. The Colorado Division of Wildlife is seeking information concerning a suspicious incident involving a bull elk found dead in the Hanks Creek drainage on the west side of Uncompahgre Plateau. The elk’s antlers had been removed. Information can be provided anonymously to the agency through its Operation Game Thief program, potential for cash reward, phone 877-265-6648.

Hip requirement. Hunters who plan to participate in any small game or waterfowl season must complete the Harvest Information Program Survey, either by connecting with the Colorado Division of Wildlife home page on the Internet or by phoning 1-866-265-6447. After completing the requisite survey, a hunter will be given a number to validate the license.
