A 45-year-old man was convicted Monday of vehicular homicide in an incident where he crashed into a man sitting in the road because of a previous accident.

Patrick Daniel Moore was also found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident after he collided with Mario Draves Santiago-Bubico, 22, on Sept. 16, 2006, according to a statement from Pam Russell, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.

On Oct. 16, Moore pled guilty to two counts of drunken driving.

Santiago-Bubico, who had been riding a motor scooter, had caused a collision when he turned in front of a car. Witnesses said he was sitting in the roadway, looking slightly dazed, when Moore ran over Bubico-Santiago and then kept going.

Witnesses found Moore’s license plate in the road and gave it to Arvada police.

Moore remains out of jail on a $10,000 bond. Sentencing has been set for Dec. 17.
