DES MOINES, IOWA — Chris Dodd has an explanation for why his hair is white – hard work. In a new TV ad airing in Iowa, the Democratic presidential candidate argues that his hair turned white because of the work he’s done in Congress. Dodd, 63, was elected to the House in 1974 and has served in the Senate since 1980.
Pitching for women’s rights
MERRIMACK, N.H. — John Edwards told high school students Tuesday that the U.S. has a moral and legal obligation to treat women as equals to men.
At Merrimack High School, members of a women’s studies class asked him to talk about issues surrounding women’s rights. Edwards said the issues he has focused on, such as ending poverty and creating universal health care coverage, are women’s issues because they affect more women than men. “I want to be the president who is the most aggressive about enforcing our laws against discrimination against women,” he said.
