It took a while to get everything in order. But they did, and now two families who split the cost of a Powerball ticket will come forward Wednesday to claim their $20 million prize, the first Powerball jackpot ever won in Colorado.

The Colorado Lottery announced today that the winning families, whose identities have not yet been released, will claim their prize at 3 p.m. Wednesday at lottery headquarters. After that, they will meet with the media.

The families won the jackpot Oct. 10 but took nearly two weeks to form a partnership in order to share the winnings. The Powerball jackpot totaled $20 million, which will pay the winners $9.4 million in cash if they take it all at once.

The winners purchased their ticket at the Safeway store at 8543 Church Ranch Blvd. in Westminster. The store will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Store manager Sandra Satar said the store will throw a party for its employees and donate the rest to a local charity.
