Boston – If there was any doubt that tonight’s World Series opener is a big deal, it will be eliminated before the first pitch. The Boston Pops Orchestra, directed by Grammy-winning composer John Williams, will perform the National Anthem.

Actress/pop singer Ashanti takes over for “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch.

James Taylor, a Fenway regular, is scheduled to sing the Anthem before Game 2, with Boyz II Men performing “God Bless America” in the seventh inning.

The traditional crowd singing of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” follows in the eighth.

Performers for the games at Coors Field have not been announced. Major League Baseball makes the final selections, though they always try to have someone with local ties.
