Pileups close eastbound I-80
RAWLINS, WYO. — A 3-mile stretch of eastbound Interstate 80 was closed Wednesday because of a series of multi-vehicle crashes.
Troopers investigated up to four separate crashes that involved passenger cars and tractor-trailers.
There was one confirmed death and several serious injuries, state patrol officials said. The injured were taken to Memorial Hospital in Rawlins.
The state patrol said road conditions at the time of the crashes were dry with no adverse weather in the area. It is believed the early-morning sun may be to blame for limited visibility of some of the drivers.
