It’s all about Halloween this weekend.
If you don’t have a costume together by now, you’d better whip something up quick. From kinky to classy, every club and venue across town has a theme party, and costumes are nearly always mandatory.
Haunted mansionWho’s your favorite dead celebrity? Marilyn? Elvis? Einstein?
Do your best impression and hit the Haunted Hollywood party tonight at the Parkside Mansion. You can strut your dead-celeb status in the mansion’s ballroom during the Haunted Hollywood Ball, or hit the dungeon (the garden area) for his-and-her go-go dancers, nicknamed the Bondage Babes From Hell and the Ghostly Beefcake Revue. It’s a swingin’ Rat Pack theme on the tented rooftop patio.
Organizers aren’t going to add much to the atmosphere since the Parkside Mansion, at 1859 York St., is said to be haunted by real ghosts.
“A lot of people have gotten married in the mansion,” said Jim Guttau, one of the organizers of tonight’s party. “And there’s a mirror above the fireplace in the bride’s room where a lot of brides have seen a woman with long blond hair watching them. They think she died on her wedding day.”
Apparently, it’s not just brides who notice strange things at the Parkside.
“Just the other night we were there, planning things out for the party, and the lights kept turning on and off,” Guttau said. “And some people have heard classical music playing when the place is empty.”
You’ve got to love a good ghost story. Check it out for yourself tonight starting at 8. Tickets run $25 and cover wine, well, and drafts, or you can opt for the cash bar for top-shelf cocktails.
Sexy and spooky Kevin Larson’s annual Victorian and Fetish Ball is back this Saturday night, and it’s as racy as ever.
Now in its eighth year, the party pushes the fetish theme as far as possible – while obeying all state laws – by offering stage shows featuring bondage displays, body painting and wax demonstrations, and topless tricksters performing belly dancing, suspension displays and burlesque.
More than 60 performers are slated to appear throughout the night. The bash takes over both the Diamond Cabaret gentlemen’s club and Tabu, the upstairs dance club (1222 Glenarm Place), along with a special VIP room called the Den of Inequity, for more intimate performances.
Costumes are mandatory for admittance; tickets run $30 for GA and $75 for VIP at
. Doors are at 7 p.m. and the entertainment kicks off at 9 p.m.
