A father and son were arrested in Eagle County after leading police on a high-speed car chase and then running away on foot, according to authorities.
When deputies caught up to the son, he attacked one with a pocketknife as his father hid in the woods nearby, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
William Leake, 40, of Golden and Nicholas Leake, 21, of Eagle were arrested shortly before 11 p.m. Monday, the Sheriff’s Office said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies tried to pull over a vehicle on U.S. 6 near Stone Creek Drive in Eagle County because it was being driven “erratically.”
Instead of pulling over, the driver took off “at a high rate of speed,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
The vehicle came to a stop at a roundabout, and two men got out and ran.
According to the release, deputies used a Taser on Nicholas Leake because he was “combative.”
William Leake also resisted arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.
