The mayors of Denver and Boston have agreed to a friendly wager on the World Series that will benefit a charity in the winner’s city.

“The Colorado Rockies’ win streak has become civic cement for our entire region,” Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper said in a news release. “Now their success brings us together to support the Rox against the Sox in the World Series.”

Should the Colorado Rockies win, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will pay off Hickenlooper with 100 cups of Legal Seafood Clam Chowder, 100 cups of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, 100 Boston Crème donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts and 100 Curse Reversed ice cream sandwiches from Brigham’s Ice Cream.

Should the Red Sox win, Hickenlooper will ship 100 Quiznos sandwiches, 100 cups of Celestial Seasonings teas, 100 servings of Great Western Tortilla Chips and Epic Valley Salsa and 100 scoops of Liks Rocky Road ice cream to Beantown.

The mayors did not reveal today which particular charities will enjoy the fruits of the wager.
