Colorado Ballet tips its hat to Halloween by reprising the popular “Dracula” in performances this weekend at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.
And while it’s a bloody wonderful production, there was nothing scary about the way the company launched its 47th season. Longtime trustee Dick Saunders hosted a cocktail party in the gardens of his Cherry Hills Village home.
In addition to Saunders, a vice president of the board and head of its fundraising council, the “dear friends and community leaders” who were thanked at the twilight bash were Raydean Acevedo; Liz and Bill Armstrong; Merle Chambers and Hugh Grant; and Anne and Jim Hillary.
Acevedo and Anne Hillary are Colorado Ballet trustees; Liz Armstrong was president of the Colorado Ballet Auxiliary in 2000; Merle Chambers and Hugh Grant, along with the Armstrongs, are among the company’s major donors.
Guests were welcomed by board chair Denise Sanderson and Gil Boggs, a former American Ballet Theatre principal who became Colorado Ballet’s artistic director in 2006.
