GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Republican state Rep. Ray Rose of Montrose says he will not run for re-election next year after his third term ends.
Rose said Wednesday he would not rule out running for elected office in the future.
Cortez businessman Scott Tipton, a Republican who ran unsuccessfully for Congress last year, said he may run for the seat if Rose does not.
Montrose City Council member Noelle Hagan, a Democrat, has already said she plans to run. She said she was surprised by Rose’s decision.
Rose, 63, said he wants to spend more time with his wife and other family members.
