“American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood will sing the “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the first Colorado Rockies home game of the 2007 World Series, Major League Baseball announced today.
Underwood will take the spotlight just before the first pitch, around 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Coors Field.
Underwood is a country superstar. She has sold more than 6 million albums, making her the most successful of all the “Idols.”
Her 2006 CD, “Some Hearts,” has been the best-selling release by a female country singer throughout 2005, 2006 and 2007. She has won top awards from the Country Music Association, Billboard and others.
