A man who threatened someone with a shotgun was shot early this morning by an Adams County Sheriff’s deputy following a car chase, officials say.
Three suspects were arrested, including one who was taken to Denver Health Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, said Candi Baker, Adams County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.
Commerce City police received a 911 call at 1:51 a.m. after a man allegedly pointed a shotgun at someone near 69th Avenue and Dahlia Street, Baker said.
A sheriff’s deputy spotted the gold Chrysler Concorde, which had been stolen in Jefferson County, and tried to pull the car over.
The suspects took off, leading deputies on a chase that ended at 49th Avenue and Brighton Road when the suspects crashed into a fence and took off running, Baker said.
A deputy shot one of the suspects, she said. When asked whether the suspect pointed the gun at the officer she said she could only say that the shotgun was found next to the wounded suspect.
An investigation of the shooting is underway and it is possible that the deputy who fired the gun will be placed on routine administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing, Baker said.
