DURHAM, N.H. — Matt Fornataro had a goal and an assist to lead sixth-ranked New Hampshire to a 4-2 victory over visiting Colorado College on Saturday night, completing a weekend sweep of the No. 4 Tigers.
Fornataro’s fourth goal of the season, scored at the 2:50 mark of the second period, put New Hampshire ahead 1-0.
Bill Sweatt tied the score for Colorado College with a power-play goal later in the second period.
Tigers’ Scott McCulloch tied the score at 2-2 at 9:52 of the third period. But Paul Thompson’s goal 16 seconds later put New Hampshire ahead for good.
Goalie Brian Foster made 31 saves to key New Hampshire’s victory. Richard Bachman, who notched 21 saves, took the loss in goal for Colorado College.
Colorado College dropped to 2-2 while New Hampshire improved to 3-0.
Air Force 3, Bentley 1 WALTHAM, MASS. — Air Force scored one goal in each period for a victory over Bentley in an Atlantic Hockey Association game Saturday. The two teams split the AHA series.
Air Force improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the AHA. Bentley fell to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the AHA.
Mike Phillipich, Jeff Hajner and Brett Nylander scored goals for the Falcons. Dustin Cloutier scored Bentley’s lone goal. Bentley outshot Air Force 25-24. AFA was 1-for-6 on the power play while Bentley was 0-for-2.
Air Force returns home for a two-game league series with Mercyhurst Friday and Saturday at the Cadet Ice Arena.
