Nathan Rosychuk had a natural hat trick, and Greg Pankewicz scored in the extra session to give the Colorado Eagles a 4-3 overtime win over the Rocky Mountain Rage, handing the Rage its first loss of the Central Hockey League season.

Riley Nelson started the decisive play, making a nifty lead pass to Pankewicz, who beat Rage goaltender Terry Dunbar to the puck, then juked the netminder out of position and slid the puck into the empty net.

Big 12 salutes CU coach. The Big 12 Conference on Tuesday named Colorado’s Mark Wetmore its men’s and women’s cross country coach of the year after a vote of the league’s coaches.

In the 12 years of the Big 12, Wetmore has earned coach of the year honors in 11 men’s seasons and 10 women’s seasons. The award wasn’t given in the first year of the Big 12. Wetmore guided the CU men to their 12th consecutive conference title and the CU women to their 11th straight league championship.

Buffs’ Cousins honored. After leading the Colorado women’s soccer team to consecutive victories last week – two crucial wins that netted the Buffaloes a berth in the Big 12 Tournament – junior midfielder Alex Cousins was named the conference’s offensive player of the week. Cousins, from Fort Collins High School, scored the tying goal in a 2-1 overtime victory over Oklahoma on Friday and the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma State on Sunday.
