Growing old gracefully
The Oxford Hotel in LoDo recently celebrated its 116th birthday by unveiling design and technology updates throughout the building. All of the rooms now come with flat-screen televisions, wireless high-speed Internet access, Bose Wave Radios with iPod docking stations, Sealy Posturepedic pillow-top mattresses and new luxury bedding. Bathroom renovations include replacing bathtubs with glass enclosed showers, adding dual sinks and outfitting some rooms with clawfoot tubs. And new luxury services include a bath butler who can arrange a serene scene with aromatic salts and wine or champagne delivered to the room. “The Oxford has always been a gem,” GM Ed Blair said in a prepared statement. “We worked very hard during this renovation process to maintain its beauty, authenticity and elegance.”
Global garden inspiration
Gardeners are beginning to itch now that the ground is growing cold and the perennials are hibernating. Instead of going haywire with houseplants, consider spending an evening gleaning insight for next year’s garden at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 when the Denver Botanic Gardens and the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation host “Around the World in Trend-Setting Garden Design,” a presentation by internationally known landscape architect Richard Hartlage. Registration is $16 for members, $21 non-members and $25 on the day of the event. 720-865-3580 or .
Sprout more storage
The kitchen is one room where clutter seems right at home. So it’s hard not to salute any product that attempts to make sense of all those stirring spoons, spatulas and tongs. The Pantree is a new countertop cookware and lid organizer, and the Pantree Plus adds additional space for utensils. Readers Digest dubbed this “one of the five gadgets that you can’t live without.” It also has found favor in such magazines as Woman’s Day, Woman’s World, and Quick and Simple. $24.95 plus shipping at .
