Even before pitcher Aaron Cook delivered a terrific performance in Game 4 of the World Series, the Rockies planned to keep him. That outing only reaffirmed their resolve, as Cook posted the best performance by a Rockies starter in the Series.
As expected, the Rockies picked up Cook’s $4.5-million club option today, the first step as the team and agent Joe Bick begin working on a multi-year deal this month.
“We will be talking with them after everything settles down,” Bick said.
For the Rockies, continuity will be a theme this offseason, with only a few minor roster adjustments. The coaching staff will come back intact, it was announced today. Bench coach Jamie Quirk had expressed interest in the Pirates’ job, but had yet to secure an interview.

It was cool.” … Dave Holliday, a scout for the Rockies, is a candidate for the Pirates’ farm director job. … Mark Wiley, a special assisant to executive vice president and general manager Dan O’Dowd, will talk to the Marlins about their vacant pitching coach’s job.
