GRAND FORKS, N.D.—Colorado College freshman goalie Richard Bachman continued his early-season success Saturday, making 32 saves to lead the Tigers past North Dakota 4-1 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play.

Bachman has allowed only six goals on the 120 shots he’s faced. He has been in the nets for every win by the Tigers (3-3-0, 3-1-0 WCHA).

North Dakota dominated the first period with an 18-4 shots-on-goal advantage, but the Tigers escaped with a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers scored shorthanded on a 3-on-1 rush after Bachman turned away two point-blank chances. Scott Thauwald kept the puck on the rush and hit the corner with a wrist shot.

UND’s Matt Watkins finally solved Bachman early in the second period. But the 1-1 tie was short-lived.

The Tigers took the lead for good on the power play on Scott McCullough’s tip of a Brian Connelly slapshot from the point. Less than a minute later, the lead moved to 3-1 when Eric Walsky one-timed Tyler Johnson’s pass from the corner.

In the second and third periods, UND had limited scoring chances as the Tigers tightened defensively. Billy Sweatt’s empty-netter with 11 seconds left ended scoring.

Jean-Philippe Lamoureux had 17 saves for UND (4-2-1, 2-2-0).
