Denver police today announced the arrests of two men in connection with a downtown shooting that was sparked by a parking space dispute.
Police arrested 33-year-old Ockey Peterson on a felony menacing charge and 26-year-old Calvin Kosik for first-degree assault and felony menacing.
Authorities say Kosik and Peterson were involved in shooting a man in the stomach during a dispute over a parking space Monday night in the 1500 block of Stout Street. Police say the argument turned into a physical confrontation, and that the victim was shot once but his injury was not life-threatening.
Police say Peterson’s arrest came within hours of the assault, and further investigation led them to Kosik. Both men were arrested without incident and no other suspects are being sought, police said.
The incident was the second shooting in downtown in two days. Early Sunday, seven people were shot and one, 25-year-old Ted Padilla, was killed outside a bar on 15th between Market and Blake streets.
Police still are searching for the suspect in that shooting, 25-year-old Anthony Chavez.
