Celine Dion is leaving Las Vegas with plans for a world tour that includes a stop at Denver’s Pepsi Center in late-November — 2008.
The multiplatinum Canadian singer will end her five-year, sold-out Vegas run of “A New Day” at Caesars Palace on Dec. 15. Her “Taking Chances” world tour will pick up next year with stops in Africa, England and Western Europe before coming back and finishing things up in Canada and America. The Denver date is toward the end of her mammoth run on Nov. 19.
“These past five years of performing at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas have been an incredibly rewarding experience for myself and my family, but I’m ready to hit the road again, with my husband and son by my side,” Dion said in a statement. “It’s going to be so exciting to tour the U.S. and Canada again, and perform everything with a brand new show. I just can’t wait!”
The show, according to a statement, will be a “spectacular live concert event where Celine will perform her biggest hits, along with songs from her new English album ‘Taking Chances,’ which will be released on November 13.”
The tour, produced by AEG Live/Concerts West, will be directed by Jamie King, who has managed tours by Madonna, Christina Aguilera and Ricky Martin. Keep your eyes here for on-sale information, as some outlets are reporting that they could go on sale as early as next week.
Oh, and for the Vegas fans in the house, entertainer Bette Midler will be the next resident diva at Caesars starting Feb. 20. She’s contracted for 100 shows over the first two years, according to reports.
