GOLDEN, Colo.—Health officials say they’ve identified a virus they believe caused a sudden sickness among Chatfield High School football players last weekend.

About 30 students suffered nausea, vomiting and diarrhea after a trip to Fort Collins.

Lab results reported Friday identified Norovirus as the likely cause.

Jefferson County health officials say the virus can be contracted easily, by consuming food or drink contaminated by an infected person, or from touching a contaminated object and then touching the mouth or eating without washing the hands first.

They did not say exactly where or how the students came in contact with the virus.

Health officials say all the students have either recovered or are getting better.
