FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Discarded smoking materials sparked a fire at an off-campus Colorado State University dorm Friday that damaged two balconies, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported and the blaze caused about $4,000 in damage, said Cpt. Patrick Love, spokesman for the Poudre Fire Authority.
The fire went to two alarms, prompting some 27 firefighters to be sent to the scene as a precaution, but crews were able to extinguish the fire in about five minutes.
The damaged balconies were on the second and third floors.
