NORTHGLENN, Colo.—Police say a 4-year-old Northglenn boy was left in critical condition after a severe beating. His stepfather has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse.
Kurt Green had emergency surgery on Friday at The Children’s Hospital in Denver. His stepfather, Michael Ochsner, was arrested after questioning.
Northglenn police say Ochsner took the injured boy to North Suburban Medical Center Friday afternoon, telling the staff the boy had fallen down a flight of stairs the day before.
Doctors called police because they said his injuries weren’t consistent with that explanation.
Kurt was airlifted to Children’s for surgery.
