A bridge replacement project will cause major delays and the rerouting of highway traffic north of Denver. The 128th Avenue bridge over Interstate 25 in Adams County is being torn down, starting today, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. At 7 p.m., 128th Avenue will be shut down between Lincoln and Delaware streets. This closure will be in effect around the clock until the new bridge is completed in about eight months.
Traffic on 128th Avenue will be detoured to Washington or Huron streets and then over to 120th or 136th avenues and back to I-25. Traffic on I-25 will be affected by the demolition, which should be completed by Thursday.
A single lane of northbound and southbound I-25 will be closed between 120th Avenue and 136th Avenue from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
All lanes of northbound and southbound I-25 between 120th Avenue and 136th Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
The detour route for traffic on I-25 north will be to exit at 120th and go east to Washington; take Washington north to 136th and back to I-25.
The route for traffic on I-25 south will be to exit at 136th and go west to Huron; take Huron south to 120th and back to I-25.
