DENVER—Top-seeded Grandview avenged last year’s state championship loss to Eaglecrest to win the 5A volleyball title Saturday night at the Denver Coliseum.

Lauren VanOrden had 27 kills, 23 assists and 11 digs as top-seeded Grandview beat Eaglecrest 32-30, 20-25, 25-16, 25-21.

Erica Denny added 18 kills, one assist and four solo blocks for the Wolves (30-0), who appeared in their fifth straight title game. Before losing to Eaglecrest a year ago, Grandview, from Aurora, won consecutive titles in 2004-05.

Eaglecrest (28-3), the No. 3 seed from Centennial, played Grandview especially tough in the first two games, but Grandview continuously set up VanOrden, who was masterful at the net with her spikes.
