DENVER—A police officer was injured and a suspect was shot Monday when the officer checked a report of a suspicious vehicle in a southeast Denver alley.
Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said neither man had life-threatening injuries.
The officer approached the car shortly before 5 p.m. and a scuffle ensued between him and the other man. The officer pulled his gun and shot the suspect in the side, police said.
The officer had cuts on his head. Both men were taken to the hospital.
No names were released.
Jackson said drugs were recovered at the scene and they appear to belong to the suspect.
