LOS ANGELES — Melvyn Weiss, the Milberg Weiss co-founder charged with illegally paying clients to file shareholder lawsuits, asked that his criminal trial be held in New York, where his law firm is based, instead of Los Angeles.
Weiss, 72, and his firm, which was also indicted, shouldn’t have to defend themselves “in a court as far from their home as it could possibly be,” his lawyers said in a request filed Friday.
