BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder Congressional candidate Jared Polis announced Sunday that he will visit Iraq on a humanitarian mission to support efforts to develop local nonprofit aid groups.
Polis said the war in Iraq is the most important issue facing the country and he also wants soldiers to know how much he appreciates their efforts.
While in Iraq he will make himself available to the public in a live blogging session.
Polis said that on his return he will hold two town hall meeting to discuss his trip and share what he learned.
He is one of three Democrats seeking to succeed Mark Udall, who is running for Republican Wayne Allard’s seat in the U.S. Senate. Allard is retiring.
