COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—An autopsy was planned Monday for a Colorado Springs man who was swept away in the Arkansas River while night fishing.

The man and a friend were fishing about 20 miles west of Canon City late Friday when they got caught in a current, said Fremont County Coroner Dorothy Twellman.

“He got in a little too far and the current swept him downstream,” Twellman said.

The friend was able to get out and call for help, she said.

The victim’s body was found a half-mile downstream from where he was swept away, she said.

The men’s names were not immediately released.
