A 73-year-old Loveland man was charged in district court Tuesday with Internet luring of a child.
Elmer Eldor Ehlers was arrested Nov. 13 by investigators with the Jefferson County district attorney’s office for allegedly having a sexually explicit chat online with an undercover police officer posing as a teenage girl. According to his arrest affidavit, Ehlers, under the screen name “jones4392,” initiated a conversation with an undercover officer Nov. 9 on Yahoo Instant Messenger.
After the officer pretended to be a 14-year-old girl, Ehlers said he liked to have sex outside of marriage, the affidavit said. During a 50-minute conversation, Ehlers allegedly asked the officer he thought was a girl if she was a virgin and said she could undress him and sit in his lap nude.
Ehlers was released from Jefferson County Jail on a $10,000 bond, according to a news release, and has until Nov. 29 to schedule a preliminary hearing.
