An editor of Ski Racing Magazine was arrested Tuesday by Jefferson County authorities on suspicion of trolling the Internet for underage sex partners.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Donald J. Cameron, 40, of Thornton used the screen name Hockeypower08 in a Yahoo chat room on Oct. 17, when he sent an instant message to someone. That person told him she was almost 15 years old. Over the next two weeks, Cameron asked for pictures, then told the contact to watch his webcam as he masturbated, according to the affidavit.
About Nov. 1, the investigator confirmed by instant message that she was under 15, but Cameron responded he didn’t care and asked her to call him. The investigator called. He began masturbating again on the webcam, then told the contact to wait 3 years and call him when she was 18.
Gary Black, owner of Ski Racing International, said Cameron had been the editor of Ski Racing four years ago, but refused to move with the magazine to Salt Lake City. Cameron worked from his home on the magazine in a diminished editorial capacity, Black said. Cameron could not be reached for comment. He will be advised of his charges Monday.
