A scholarship in the name of former Denver City Attorney Larry Manzanares will provide financial support for future Latino college students.
Family and friends along with the Latin American Educational Foundation announced the establishment of the Larry Manzanares Scholarship Fund on Wednesday.
Manzanares, a former judge, took his own life June 22, hours after appearing in court to face three felony charges stemming from a stolen computer police traced to his home.
The scholarship fund will be maintained at the Denver Foundation. Contributors expect to raise $80,000 to establish the fund and have raised $65,000 so far.
Additional contributions for the scholarship fund can be made directly to the Latin American Educational Foundation, which is a non-profit.
