NEW YORK — Crude oil rose above $98 a barrel to a record close Tuesday after the U.S. dollar declined to a new low against the euro.
Crude oil for January delivery rose $3.39, or 3.6 percent, to settle at $98.03 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It was the highest close since trading began in 1983. Futures touched $98.30, the highest since climbing to an intraday record of $98.62 on Nov. 7.
