A woman who was struck and killed by a car while trying to cross Interstate-25 had been living at a Denver alcohol treatment facility, authorities say.

Paula Rapczynski, 47, was struck Friday night at 7:15 p.m. near 104th Avenue on southbound I-25, said Sgt. Steve Garrow, Northglenn police spokesman.

She had been living at Stepping Stones, a Denver halfway house, Garrow said.

Investigators do not believe the driver of the car that struck Rapczynski was at fault, he said.

“They’re still investigating why the lady was on the highway,” Garrow said.
