DENVER—A man and a woman and their 1-year-old son were injured when a vehicle drifted into the other lane and collided head-on into their car about four miles west of Golden Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Shana Kelly, 22 of Central City, the driver of a Plymouth Neon headed west on U.S. 6, was seriously injured and taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital, the Colorado State Patrol said.

Passenger Dave Dunkle, 21, of Central City was also taken to the hospital and Gage Dunkle, 1, was airlifted to Children’s Hospital.

Trooper Gilbert Mares said Dunkle and Kelly weren’t wearing seatbelts and the child wasn’t restrained properly.

John Gillies, 42, of Aspen, who was driving east when his Chrysler Pacifica went into the westbound lane, had minor injuries. He didn’t go to the hospital.

Mares said Gillies was wearing a seatbelt.

The State Patrol doesn’t believe that alcohol, drugs speed or weather were factors in the accident.
