GRAND JUNCTION — Grand Junction High School students are getting a longer Thanksgiving vacation than originally scheduled after a water-line break forced the school to shut down this week.

School District 51 spokesman Jeff Kirtland said the school will remain closed until Dec. 3 because of the extensive damage.

Kirtland called the flood of 250,000 gallons of water into mechanical and electrical systems at the school a “truly catastrophic event.”
