CANON CITY, Colo.—Cotter Corporation officials say a judge could rule by the end of next week on the company’s attempts to store out-of-state radioactive material at its Canon City uranium mill.

Cotter wants to take about 400,000 tons radioactive waste from a Superfund site in Maywood, New Jersey, but the Colorado Department of Public Health refused to issue the company a permit.

An administrative law judge upheld the department’s decision. On November 16th, a Denver District Court judge heard Cotter’s appeal.
