The driver of a 1987 Toyota Celica is dead after hitting a tree at about 10:30 this morning on U.S. 40 west of Empire.
The accident in Clear Creek County is still being investigated, said Colorado State Patrol spokesman Trooper Gilbert Mares.
The driver, who was the only person in the car, has not been identified.
