A few flurries of snow will fall around the metro area today, but chilly temperatures will be the bigger issue, forecasters say.
Highs today will remain below 30 degrees. Two to 4 inches of snow are expected from Park County east along the Palmer Divide to the Limon area.
There’s a chance of lighter snow north of that area but generally south of Interstate 70.
The National Weather Service says a low-pressure system moving cross New Mexico and Southern Colorado will produce the snow.
On Saturday, the mercury will be above freezing for the first time in several days, with a forecast high near 40. The warming trend continues Sunday, but it will remain seasonally chilly in the 40s.
A winter-storm warning is in effect for the southwestern mountains, including the Sangre de Cristo and La Garita Mountains, with 4 to 10 inches expected by midnight.
That system will move north to bring more snow to the high country Saturday, with 1 to 4 inches forecast around Breckenridge.
