Mortgage rates sank last week, with rates on 30-year mortgages dropping to a six-month low, a spot of welcome news to would-be home buyers. Freddie Mac, the mortgage company, reported Wednesday, that 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.20 percent. That was down from 6.24 percent the week before and was the lowest rate since the week ending May 10, when rates stood at 6.15 percent. Below are average mortgage rates in Denver, Adams and Arapahoe counties as of Wednesday and the previous 52 weeks. The one-year Treasury bill average reported by the Federal Reserve Bank is 3.58 percent. The Cost of Funds Index for September from the Federal Home Loan Bank (11th District) was 4.383 percent.
