COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Teachers in Colorado Springs are being warned to watch for signs that students are using a new kind of crystal meth that smells like candy.

Colorado, both urban and rural areas, already have been hit by widespread use of meth. It is doubly dangerous because the manufacture of the drug creates environmental hazards.

The Gazette says an e-mail sent to school employees said the drug comes in flavors including chocolate, peanut butter, cherry and strawberry.

So far police have found no sign of it in Colorado Springs.

The e-mail said crystal meth is not being manufactured in this way to introduce the usually bitter-tasting drug to children.

The Drug Enforcement Agency says it has found evidence of the drug in several states. One type is called “strawberry quick.”
