Two pedestrians were critically injured when they were hit by a pickup truck in Aurora, police said.
The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Chambers Road and East 13th Avenue, police said in a press release.
The victims, Abdirahman Hilowie, 19, and Siyad Khalif, 25, both of Denver, were taken to a local hospital, police said.
Both remain hospitalized, Hilowie with serious injuries. Khalif’s injuries are moderate, police said.
The pair were walking west across Chambers Road at East 13th Avenue when they were hit by a 2003 red Dodge pickup truck heading south on Chambers Road in the right lane, police said.
The driver of the Dodge Truck, Patrick Mahadocon, 67 years old, of Aurora, had a green light to go through the intersection, and the pedestrians had a red light, police said. He was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
